Are you wondering about the best time to plant a vegetable garden? You should if you want to grow vegetables and want a good crop.
Planting a vegetable garden needs some thinking and planning ahead.
Planting times for garden vegetables vary in the different climate zones and of course with
the type of vegetables you are going to grow.
Planting times for vegetables are also affected by the weather. For example this year spring was very cold and soil temperatures stayed too low for planting
any seeds. We just had to patient and wait for milder weather!
If you plant your vegetable seeds at the wrong time you won't get good results. If it is still too cold they won't germinate or only a few will. The seedlings
will be growing very slowly and might die off if they get hit by a frost.
If you are planting too late the plants won't have enough time to develop a crop before the season is over and you will have wasted your time!
So don't ignore the planting times for garden vegetables!

Planting vegetables?
The most frequently asked question by many gardeners is when to plant vegetables?. The answer is, it depends upon certain conditions which you are going to
read and understand later on in my article. There are certain thing which comes under consideration like which vegetables you want to plant, the country you
are in and the climate of your country.
Before planting a vegetable garden, you must have a brief idea about the hardiness zone. This zone will determine the cold weather expected in an average
year in your area.
There's one more way of determining the most suitable time for planting your vegetable garden plants. You can look on the seed packets for determining the
best suitable time for planting individual plants.
Something like "plant seeds 3 to 5 weeks before the last expected frost date" will be stated on the seed packets. With the help of such type of statements
you can easily judge the best time to plant vegetable garden plants.
Although, after taking all the major aspects under consideration, sometimes the best gardener can be wrong with their judgments. Gardening can be like
examination sometimes but if done maturely and with presence of mind it is well worth the effort.

In order to plant your vegetable garden plants correctly you must know about the growing seasons of specific vegetables. The growing season of vegetables
differs from one another. Another way of determining a good is by making the last frost date as a base. Once you are aware of the last frost date, you can
easily determine the kind of crop you want to plant:
Planting Times For Garden Vegetables
Warm Weather Crops:
These cannot tolerate frost, but instead they require warmer weather to grow. The required temperature often can be around 70 degrees of more.
So, there's no need to put them out early. Some of the common examples of warm weather crops are eggplant, peppers, corn, and tomatoes.
Tender Crops:
Same as warm weather crops, the tender crops also cannot tolerate a frost. These crops also require protections. One thing that differ this crop from
warm weather crop is that it can grow in cooler temperatures. These can planted some weeks before the last frost date.
Cool Weather Crops:
These can tolerate cold and they can also grow in extreme frost. Some of the common examples are broccoli, cabbage, sprouts, garlic, and onions.
Apart from these lettuce and spinach also belong to this category. In order to plant these, the ground has to be frozen and tilled. If not, then it's
too late for these to go into the ground.
After going through this article you can say that planting vegetable garden is a science and also an art to some extent. It's necessary to take
certain aspects under consideration before planting.
